Now the laborer's task is o'er,
Now the battle past,
Now upon the farther shore,
Lands the voyager at last.

Handbook for Officers 2010

Edwin Markham, the California poet, has said that “ the three needs of man are Bread, Beauty, and Brotherhood.”
Bread stands for the satisfaction of the physical needs of man.   Beauty is that combination of form and color and tone to which man turns to satisfy the aesthetic nature in him.
Brotherhood is that companionship which a human being craves when he comes to a full realization through his work in ministering to his physical and aesthetic needs that we are descended from the One Almighty Parent and are members of the same family.
It is fitting that reference should be made to these things in writing a history of this lodge, for we must consider that it was the seeking of a means of livelihood amid pleasant surroundings that prompted the original thirteen charter members of this lodge to settle in the Beautiful Valley of Heart’s Delight.
