Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Our April 2nd meeting was well attended even though we had several Officers missing due to illness.  Our thanks go to Eleanor Moore for filling in for Terri Behnke at Ada’s station, Pat Mastalir for filling in for Marjorie Groshart when she became ill, and Elsa Biber for being Emblem Bearer for Ada.  We’re happy to report that Terri and Marjorie are recovering nicely.  This meeting was also memorable because Sister Martha Hartsog was presented with her fifty-year pin.  This was a real pleasure for us.  Congratulations Martha!  It was also wonderful to see Alvie back at Chapter.

Our April 16th meeting celebrated our Service Awards with a dinner honoring Brother Richard Wing with the Service Award and Brother Vern Barr with the Rob Morris Award.  Their service to our Chapter and to the Order of the Eastern Star is very much appreciated.  Many thanks go to Sister Ramona Burnett and her committee for preparing a lovely dinner prior to our meeting.

The practices for the Floral Degree ceremony are coming along very well.  It will be presented at our first meeting in May.  Please plan to attend.  It has been several years since the entire ceremony has been put on.

Our Chapter is hosting the Peninsula Star Point Association meeting on July 26th.  It will be a luncheon held at the home of Ramona Burnett.  The meeting starts at 11:00am with lunch following.  The cost is $7.00.  this is a fund-raiser for the Chapter.

Minutes of the March 29th Star Circle Meeting

President Yvonne Myers called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm, in the third floor lounge of the Palo Alto Masonic Center. Since the meeting fell on a 5th Saturday, President Yvonne welcomed Kathy Chamberlain and Lynn Gentry to the meeting. These Saturday meetings are arranged   to accommodate the Chapter members who are working and unable to attend our regularly scheduled 4th Friday sessions. Minutes of the February meeting were approved as read. Notes had been taken by Nancy Schubert and interpreted by Betty Lee. Thank you both. The January minutes were corrected to reflect that the meeting included the installation of officers, with the exception of Secretary. Jean Jones was absent that day. Treasurer’s Report was approved as read. A check was written to Palo Alto Chapter #203 in the amount of @11195, leaving a balance of $400.64 in our account. Bravo! Jean Jones was installed as Secretary. Under Circle of Concern, the Star Circle callers reported on the calls that they had made, bringing us up-to-date with chapter members who were not present. This is something new and we all found it informative. Harriet Gluck could use a “thinking of you” card as she has had a couple of falls recently and is under doctor’s care. Ed Olivera passed away on Easter Sunday. His memorial is scheduled for March 30 at the Burlingame Masonic Center. Car pool arrangements will be discusses at the next meeting when more people will be present. New Business: President Yvonne spoke on the meals that we would help the Lodge with in April. Stated Meeting: April 1st, OAM Meeting: April 22nd this is a meeting when officers from various lodges get together. We expect about 74 people to attend and will need many helping hands with the set up, serving and clean up. Please help if you can. The Hiram Award dinner will be in September and we will also need additional help. Lynn Gentry is now a member of the Temple Board Association. The ceiling in the dining room and kitchen area will be replaced in the June-September timeframe and will be off limits to us during that time. We will use the 3rd Floor Lounge for refreshments. Cancer Dressing Station has a new name. It is now known as Eastern Star Patient Comfort Station. Our next meeting will be April 25th at the Palo Alto Masonic Center and our hostesses will be Sisters Judy Chamberlain and Betty Africa. President Yvonne thanked everyone for coming and closed the meeting with the Mizpah at 2:00 pm
